Directions to St. Paisius Monastery

Information on Safford area hotels.

Take Hwy 60 East to Hwy 70 (at Globe). Continue east on Hwy 70. Pass through Thatcher and most of Safford. At Hwy 191 (i.e., 1st Street), turn right and proceed south for approximately 10 ½ miles. Shortly after mile-marker 111, turn left on Artesia Road. Continue on Artesia Road for approximately 1½ miles. At Sky Blue Road turn left, and proceed to the monastery entrance. (Do not proceed down the road marked “Road Not Maintained.”)

Take I-10 East to Hwy 191 North (toward Safford), and proceed northbound on Hwy 191. Shortly after mile-marker 110, turn right on Artesia Road. Continue on Artesia Road for approximately 1½ miles. At Sky Blue Road turn left, and proceed to the monastery entrance. (Do not proceed down the road marked “Road Not Maintained.”)

Via Globe (i.e., over the mountain)
From the monastery, take Paisano Drive to Hwy 79. Go north on Hwy 79 (through the town of Florence) and continue until you reach Hwy 60 at Florence Junction. Take Hwy 60 East and follow the directions above (“from Phoenix”).

Via I-10 (through Tucson)
From the monastery, take Paisano Drive to Hwy 79. Go south on Hwy 79 until you reach Route 77. Go south on Rt. 77 (Oracle Road). At Ina Road, turn right. Continue west on Ina until you reach I-10. Take I-10 East (toward El Paso) and follow the directions above (“from Tucson”).

Greyhound Bus makes a stop in Thatcher, at the Giant Convenience Store: 2775 W. Main Street (which is also Hwy 70) and N. Stadium Ave. Tickets can be purchased online at Greyhound.com.
